Landmark Inn State Historic Site

Stay overnight in one of this 1840's historic inn's ten guest rooms and stroll the spacious grounds, Medina Riverfront and waterfall, or peek into the 1853 millhouse. Numerous historic homes are within walking distance. Includes a small museum with local history.

Castroville Regional Park

Located on the Medina River, has picnicking, barbecue pits, swimming pool, fishing, athletic courts, and camping with hookups (fee). Reservation of pavilions is available for a fee. More information..

Cross Hill -- Mont Gentilz
Known as Cross Hill, the hill above the cemetery offers a panoramic view of the Medina Valley. Buried in the cemetery is Amelia Castro, wife of the founder of Castroville. The Alsatian settlers erected the first cross in 1847, the current cross was erected in 1971.

St. Louis Catholic Church -- St. Louis Day Festival (August)

The "new" church was built in 1868-70. Nearby still stands a tiny chapel built by the colonists themselves as the first community project of the Alsatian pioneers. The chapel is on the grounds of adjacent Moye Retreat Center, former convent and boys' military school. St. Louis Day church festival, aka "Homecoming for the State of Texas", is celebrated annually, usually on the closest Sunday to Aug. 25. More information...

Das Haus aus Elsass (The House from Alsace)

A small Alsatian house originally built between 1618 and 1648 in Wahlbach, France was relocated and reassembled in Castroville. It follows the medieval art of house building, including fachwerk. It is 2-1/2 stories high and has 1,232 square feet of living space. The half-story is a dachzimmer, or loft, an open attic where beds were placed.

Heritage Day
Heritage Day is a special day for Moye Center and is held annually the second Sunday of October. You can purchase barbecue plates and browse hand-made arts, crafts and desserts made by the Sisters of Divine Providence. There are numerous children's events, as well as Live Music, a silent auction and a quilt raffle. Also, the Moye Center's historic buildings will be open to the public for touring. Market Trail Days
(March-December) Held the second Saturday of every month in Houston Square. View the handiwork of local craftsmen. Free admission. More information...

Old Fashioned Christmas

(First Saturday in December). Browse numerous holiday craft booths while enjoying musical entertainment and mouth-watering food booths. Santa is sure to pay a visit. Free admission to the public.

Castroville Antique Show

(May and September). Enjoy the multitude of antique booths at Koenig Park.

Spring Tour of Historic Homes

(May). Held every other year and includes quilt show, art show and tour of historic homes. Organized by the Castro Garden Club. More information...

Fiorella Friday
(First Friday of every Month). Monthly event on Fiorella St. featuring live music (7 -9 p.m. in September Square), wine tasting, artisans and more.

Friday Night Fever
(Second Friday of every Month from March-November). Monthly event on Houston Square featuring car/truck/bike show, live music, food and shopping.
