Castroville
Texas
A Touch of Alsace
France!
Welcome
to Castroville Tx! Castroville is located approximately
15 minutes west of San Antonio and is a town rich in history.
Founded in 1844, the town was originally settled by Henri
Castro and a small group of French Alsatian colonists. Take
a "virtual"
tour of historic homes.
The
"Little Alsace of Texas" is not only a wonderful
place to live, but an excellent weekend getaway. Castroville
is the scenic setting of a multitude of historic homes and
other historic sites. Be sure to take the "Historic Walking
Tour" while in town. You will want to save time to browse
the numerous antique shops as well. When your
taste buds beckon, there is a wide variety of appetizing fares
to indulge in -- barbecue, French cuisine, German fare and
more! The Regional
Park is a wonderful place for a picnic and enjoying
the Medina River, as well as letting the children explore the
playground equipment.
Every year the town has a variety of events you will not want
to miss. For more information on upcoming local events, bookmark
our calendar.
May features the Spring
Tour of Historic Homes where you will get to tour the
interiors and exteriors of a selection of Castroville's quaint
historic homes, as well as learn some local history. In August
you will want to be present for the "Homecoming for the
State of Texas", The St.
Louis Day Festival and the St. Louis Day Weekend Carnival.
Order a mouth-watering barbecue plate with Alsatian sausage
and enjoy the auction, craft booths, and recreational events.
You will also not want to miss the Antique Shows and Fine Art
Shows. The second Saturday of each month from March-December
showcases Market
Trail Days where numerous local craftsmen display their
wares. The first Friday of every month is Fiorella
Friday. Enjoy wine-tasting and stroll down Fiorella
St for shopping. Live music is held in September Square. The
second Friday of every month showcases Friday Night
Fever -- a 50s style car/truck/bike show with live
music, food and shopping.
